History

Cottages are where so many memories are created. Everyone has stories of “the good old days” when summers were carefree and full of adventure. A walk along Gardiner Road and Grove Road on the south shore of Cameron Lake stirs the imagination. What was cottage life like when ice was delivered by horse and wagon to keep milk and other perishables chilled?

Frank Boynton shares his recollection of the Grove and Gardiner shore as the area transitioned from farmland to summer haven.
